Our site's purpose is to help give you the information and help needed to choose the perfect tableware for your home.

We also want to help explain how to care for your dinnerware investment so that it lasts and looks great for years to come. Of course, most care questions revolve around how to care for fine china dishware. Happily, this is not a hard thing to do. Just a few safety precautions and guidelines will be plenty to help you get the longest life from your fine china products.

As far as usage is concerned the major caveat is not to expose fine dinnerware to large fluctuations in temperature or to an open flame. This probably is a common sense guideline, but it is important to prevent cracking and breakage of your beautiful dishes and tableware. You should avoid temperatures above 100 degrees although you may warm plates before use as long the temperature does not exceed the afore-mentioned limit. Also, never try to use fine bone china in the actual cooking process. It's only meant for serving.

After use at a meal, cleaning fine dinnerware is a much simpler task than most people seem to think. Scrubbing should never be done with abrasive or scouring pads. Instead, soak the dishes in warm water for a little while to loosen any attached food or residue that is stubborn. Then rinse thoroughly by hand. You can also run through a dishwasher as long as the temperature does not exceed 65 degrees centigrade.

When the plates are all clean, be very careful not to damage the dinnerware when stacking and storing. Generally it's a good idea to use some kind of soft layer between the plates such a paper towel to keep them from scratching the beautiful finish when they slide over one another. Also try to store cups on hooks instead on top of each other to prevent damage to the handles.
